About Us

Helping Other People Everywhere (HOPE) is the largest student-led community

service organization at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS). Founded in 1992, HOPE connects students with opportunities to serve their communities in ways that are meaningful, hands-on, and driven by student interests. With 17 active committees, we offer a wide variety of volunteer experiences that allow members to make a real impact during their time at TAMS.

Our service work takes place in many different settings. Students volunteer at hospitals and equine therapy centers, spend time with residents in nursing homes and Alzheimer’s care facilities, and tutor in local schools. We also support mental health awareness initiatives, help out at food banks, and give back through creative outreach like community art projects.

Each of HOPE's committees brings its own focus as well, and many launch new projects each year based on needs in the community. Whether through environmental cleanups, global education efforts, or cultural outreach, HOPE encourages students to find causes they care about and take action.

In addition to ongoing volunteer work, HOPE organizes larger events throughout the year. These include the annual HOPE Auction, a charity fundraiser that supports nonprofit organizations, and four blood drives in partnership with Carter BloodCare.

Our Mission

Founded in 1992, HOPE began as a way for students at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) to get more involved in community service. Over the years, it has grown into the largest student-led service organization at TAMS. Through 17 committees, charity events, and outreach efforts, HOPE continues to connect students with opportunities to support both local and global communities in meaningful ways.
